DRESSMAKING FOR TEENAGERS
Level 1.- This course runs over four days during the school break. The student will learn how to use the sewing machine, layout and mark the fabric, cut and sew four projects: boxer short or PJ pants, also an easy skirt, an easy top and a beach bag. If you have done the course before, you will do an easy dress and skirt.
Level 2.- The students who completed Teenagers 1, can do a dress in four lessons and maybe a simple top.

DRESSMAKING FOR BEGINNERS
This course has two levels:
Level 1.- For students who have never touched a sewing machine or has little sewing skills. You will learn how to use the sewing machine, overlocker, cut and sew 3 easy garments like PJ pants or boxer shorts, a skirt, a top. Also you will learn to read commercial patterns and some basic fitting.
Level 2.- You will learn to sew: a top with sleeves, a skirt with zipper, and an easy dress. Set in sleeves . Also, you will learn how to do the fitting for your body.

INTERMEDIATE DRESSMAKING
This course has two levels:
Level 1.- Dresses with darts or Princess line. Crossover dresses. Sleeves. Learn to fit semifitted or fitted shift dresses, bust alterations, invisible zipper and lining. Jacket Channel Style and finishing Lined or unlined, or Jacket with front zipper. . Set in sleeves with couture method.
Level 2.- Shirts or Dress-shirt with stand and collar. Front placket, concealed buttons, double yoke, sleeve placket, cuff. Pants. – front zipper. Fitting Pants. Slant pockets, pleats, or darts. Waistband or facing. Jeans.

ADVANCED DRESSMAKING
In this level we emphasize fitting. Learn to make unconstructed jackets with lining, strapless dresses with boning, facing all in one, to make perfect curves and corners, change necklines, and gaining patternmaking skills on the way. Develop your couture dress in this level
This the most advanced course of the series.

COUTURE
Learn the ultimate sewing techniques from the world’s best designers. Learn to sew chiffon, underlining, godets, hidden support for dresses, secrets of lace. Learn the corset that supports the strapless dresses, boning with couture finishing.
Make bridesmaid dresses , even your own wedding dress! We recommend in average 15 lessons for this course.

TAILORING
Learn Tailoring, the Italian method, learn the inter-construction of the jacket: interlining, lining, interfacing, canvas, chest plate, padding stitches, tape in lapel.
Learn to assembly collar and lapel, or roll collar, bound buttonholes, single and double welt pocket, perfect set in sleeves, learn the secrets of the trade for jackets and coats, perfect fitting and perfect finishing. Nobody will believe you made it!
There is no other course like this. Your expertise in dressmaking will reach a new level.

SECRETS OF THE TRADE
This course is not for beginners, as it is a mix many Professional Sewing Techniques from Designers, most of them for intermediate and advanced dressmakers.
We do samplings of sections of the garment that cover most of Dressmaking, Tailoring and Couture Techniques. Those samplings will be done in stages, for your future reference.
The course includes mini-patternmaking lessons to understand the assembly and construction. This is our Master Class, and it is recommendable for the students who really want to sharp and excel on their Sewing techniques. We make 65 samplings and most of them in steps.
This is a 10-week course that we offer once a year.

SHIRTMAKING
This course is for a intermediate sewing level, you will enjoy the process of fitting and making the shirts as the designers by learning the secrets of shirtmaking.
You will develop skills for making classic shirts for ladies or men, that incorporate details ready -to-wear with perfect fitting before cutting the fabric is. By changing the grainline and cutting in bias we can change the look of your shirt
Learn tricks of the trade for collars, cuff, placket. How to change the grainline for pockets and yoke. Learn welt seam and impeccable finishing like Shirtmaking labels..

RAGDOLL MAKING
Learn to make ragdolls in four lessons.
You will learn:
– How to make the body and cloths.
– How to make different styles of hair.
– How to draw, paint and embroidery the face.
The dolls are very decorative and a perfect gift for birthdays, baby showers or just to make a touch of fun in your room. The patterns are provided in class. Also, this course is available in one hour video (USB drive), patterns and stencil for painting the face included.

PATTERNMAKING FOR FASHION DESIGN COURSES
Level I
In this first course the student will learn the main Concepts and Principles of Patternmaking. Also, you will learn to analyze the design and draft the plan of action to do the style chosen. You will learn he basic Patternmaking Principles and Techniques you will use in the development of Patterns at any level of complexity.
You will make your personal primary blocks: skirt, bodice, and sleeve. After that, and using the Patternmaking tools learned, you will be able to use your blocks to make the garments you see on magazines, almost all the skirts ,most of the tops with different looks, collars, sleeves or sleeveless.
Learn to use the Patternmaking tools
It is a professional practice to make patterns in half size in order to see the outcome of the style and behaviour of the fabric before doing in real size. This is the Madame Vionnett Method , the first Couturier and Patternmaker in history.
This course is offered three to four times per year.

Level II
In this level you are going to learn to make Secondary personal Blocks: Shift dress, Contouring, Jacket Block, Pants Block.
You will learn the techniques for making fitted dresses: empire line, crossover, strapless, halter, even bras and torso foundation.
You will learn to develop tailoring collars and the inter-construction of the Jackets. Learn to make pants, even jeans patterns for you.
Finally, you will learn to make knit blocks or foundation for different degrees of stretch.
This course is covered on 10 lessons of 3 hours per lesson each, and is offered two times per year.

GRADING
This is a course for advanced Patternmakers only.
Grading is the proportionate increase or decrease in size of one pattern piece according with some sizes measurement’s chart. The result of grading a pattern is, in effect, a reconstructed version of the original pattern in another size.
The purpose of this course is to explain, demonstrate and teach the process in which patterns are graded manually for woman, men and children’s wear.
This course is a very specialized, and you require previous Patternmaking knowledge to understand the pattern pieces, and how is their assembly on the construction. Grading techniques require a great skill and craftmanship, and for that reason is an important subject of Educational Fashion studies. This is a 10 week course.
REPRODUCE YOUR FAVOURITE GARMENT
The course is about how to knock-off your favourite garment, without unpicking. Knock-off is a patternmaking technique to copy the pattern pieces on an existing garment, exactly as the original.
This is a one day patternmaking course where you will be able to copy your tops, skirts, pants, jeans, jackets.
The patterns obtained with this technique will allow you to make more garments of the original at home. This is a very popular course.
HOW TO USE YOUR OVERLOCKER
1.- How to thread the machine
2.- How to adjust the tensions – loopers and needles
3.- How to adjust the width of the stitch
4.- How to adjust the length of the stitch
5.- Use and application of the differential feed.
6.- Change the tension according with the fabric and the length of the stitch
7.- Use of 3 threads: narrow hem.
8.- Roll hem
STRETCHWEAR
In this course you will learn about knits, their stretch, recoverability,
Learn about needles and patterns for stretch, pattern alteration for bust, learn how to read the commercial patterns, cutting knits, select stitches, adjust the overlocking stitch. Use of cover-stitch two or three needles, twin needle.
Choose your own knit garments. Learn to make t-shirts, jackets with hood, singlets, tracksuits.
SWIMWEAR
Learn about fabrics, cutting, marking, seams, walking foot, threads, stitches, needles, topstitches, hems and edges, elastic application, cups, gauges.
We learn about fitting and how to correct the patterns as well.
ACTIVEWEAR
In this course, we are going to learn to make basic garments for active wear like: bike pants, leggings, brief, leotard, one piece unitard.
We use commercial patterns, and we do fittings. Testing and final garment.
We learn several stitches and the use of the overlocker, the use of twin needle, cover-stitch, and stitches for stretch.
BRA AND CORSETMAKING
Learn the techniques to make bras and corsets. Learn to clone your favourite bra or making one using commercial patterns. The order of sewing is the key of making bras. Perfect fitting and the finishing is exactly what you buy on the shop. Enrol in blocks of 5 lessons.

LINGERIE
Learn the secrets of lingerie: it is very easy and enjoyable to make them. Learn cami-bra, teddies, bodysuits, G-string, slips, camisoles, body shapers, silk boxer shorts, French bikinis, lingerie sets. Make unique garments for yourself or start a business label. We recommend 7 to 10 lessons.

FIT FOR REAL PEOPLE
Learn how to analyze your body and then learn to change the patterns to fit you. Fitting involves an anatomical study of the figure: width, depth, proportions, symmetry. Then, once the differences with the standard figure has been identified; we can then change the patterns using the correct fitting techniques.
The techniques you are going to learn have to be applied every time you make a garment for yourself. We cover: skirt, dress, jacket and pants.Our tests are done in calico, prior the final construction.

TRAINING PROGRAM: CLOTHING ALTERATIONS
The Sewing Workshop is the only School in Brisbane who could provide this training.
Learn from all kind of hems: jeans, transplant hem, skirt, dresses, tops; go through any kind of zippers, centred, lapped, invisible, pants zippers, dresses zipper with or without facings or lining; take in, taper in, let out in dresses, pants, skirts, reset the sleeves, deal with facings, linings, shorten the sleeves length, move the placket, shorten or lengthen jacket sleeves, balance on the jackets and more.
Ana has discovered new methods and ways to solve alteration problems at the Industry standard, and in her usual attitude, and she is willing to pass all the technical knowledge and managing aspects of this business too. How to charge, price list and client management.
This course has 4 levels and you can enroll in 5 lessons at the time. Excellent if you wish to embark on this business.
